President Obama has mentioned that all kids should be presented to computer programming in computer schools, due to the increase of computer-centric tasks and the United States’ improving attention in video games. In a latest Google+ Fireside Hangout interview via Polygon, Obama said that presenting needed computer programming study in educational institutions or computer schools âmade senseâ, given the reputation of video game playing among kids. He recommended that the shift would also help create more kids âjob-ready by the time they finish their education.
Citing Mark Zuckerburg as an example of someone who made their wealth off the back of a love for game playing, Obama continued, âPart of what Iâm trying to do here is make sure that weâre working with great educational institutions and university regions all across the nation to make the secondary school experience appropriate for adolescents, not all of whom are going to get four year degrees or advanced degree.
âThere are a whole lot of young people out there who I suppose if in high school are given an opportunity to figure [that] out â âHereâs how you can design your own games, but it needs you to know math and needs you to know science,â or you know, âHereâs what a profession in graphics looks like, and weâre going to start establishing those applications in our high schools, not patiently waiting until community collegeâ. Not only does it get prepare teenagers who are not going to a four-year college education to be job-ready, but it also involves kids because they feel like, âI get this,ââ. He included, âGiven how persistent computer systems and the Internet is now and how important it is in our economic system and how interested kids are with it, I want to make sure that they know how to actually generate things using computer programs and not simply consume stuff.â
